Madis Mihkels (EF Education - EasyPost) reached the first significant milestone of the season when he finished 3rd in the World Tour one-day race Classic Brugge-De Panne in Belgium. Juan Sebastian Molano brought UAE Team Emirates their 20th win of the season, with Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) finishing second.
There were several crashes in the final kilometers, but Mihkels managed to escape them and fight for a podium place in a group finish of about 10 men. Watch the last 5 km HERE and the photo gallery HERE .
Mihkels earned 215 points for 3rd place, which marks the EF Education - EasyPost record this season. In comparison, Marijn van den Berg, who brought the team's only victory so far, received 125 points for this.
The spring one-day race season is underway and Mihkels will make his next start tomorrow, when the E3 Saxo Classic is scheduled for Belgium.
