The opening stage of the Volta ao Algarve cycling tour in Portugal ended in chaos as the organisers failed to properly mark the finish line. Most of the riders took the wrong turn, including Madis Mihkels (EF Education – EasyPost), who finished second in the group.
The results of the opening stage were canceled due to the incident, but it is certain that Mihkels would have been in a big game in the group finish.
