There is one month left until the end of this season, and that means the teams that will be part of the World Tour for the next three seasons will be revealed. Only the top 18 teams that have accumulated the most points over the three seasons will be allowed to enter, and this week Uno-X Mobility is one step closer to that goal.
The Norwegian team overtook Cofidis to move into first place in the Pro Teams standings, or 19th overall. However, Uno-X Mobility's entry into the elite ranks is heavily dependent on the planned merger of Intermarché-Wanty and Lotto. If the merger does not take place, Intermarché-Wanty's relegation seems unlikely, as success is sufficient.
Uno-X has had a very successful August and September - they won the Tour of Germany, two stage wins were claimed by Søren Wærenskjold, plus Circuit Franco Belge and Muur Classic Geraardsbergen with Jonas Abrahamsen. Abrahamsen also reached the podium at the Maryland Cycling Classic. Andreas Leknessund's 6th place in the World Road Time Trial brought the team another 130 points.
Even if Uno-X Mobility remains at the ProTeams level, their prospects are good. After Lotto and Israel-Premier Tech were eliminated in 2022, they benefited from the UCI rule that the top ProTeams must receive an invitation to the WorldTour.
Uno-X Mobility is by far the best ProTeam in this year's UCI team rankings, coming in 11th place, but the team's sports director Gabriel Rasch explained that WorldTour team status would allow them to give more opportunities to young riders, rather than fighting for points in every race.
