Madis Mihkels abandoned cycling tour due to health problems

Madis Mihkels (EF Education - EasyPost) was only able to participate in the first two days of the Boucles de la Mayenne - Crédit Mutuel cycling tour that ended in France because he had to cancel it due to health problems. The cyclist, who turned 22 on Saturday, was plagued by fever and stomach problems.

Mihkels finished 39th in the 5.4 km prologue and crossed the finish line in 93rd place in the opening stage, losing more than two and a half minutes to the winner. The overall victory went to Aaron Gate (XDS Astana Team).

Mihkels will next start at the Swiss cycling tour, which will take place from June 15 to 22. After that, the line-up for the Tour de France will be announced.

EF Education - EasyPost can be rather satisfied with the Giro d'Italia that ended today. Kasper Asgreen and Richard Carapaz each won one stage, and Carapaz finished 3rd overall behind Simon Yates (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates - XRG). In the team classification, EF Education - EasyPost was 11th.
