Reigning Estonian champion Elisabeth Ebras will start the women's Giro d'Italia cycling tour tomorrow as part of the Italian club BePink - Imatra - Bongioanni.
"The main goal is to finish the Giro with good emotions. This is my first time participating in such a long cycling tour. My job is to help my teammates, who are better at the mountains, and I hope to achieve a good result on some of the flatter stages," said 20-year-old Ebras.
In addition to Ebras, BePink - Imatra - Bongioanni is made up of Andrea Casagranda, Nora Jenčušová, Linda Laporta, Gaia Segato, Meike Uiterwijk Winkel and Elisa Valtulini. There are eight stages in total, with a 14.2 km time trial in Bergamo on the opening day. The Giro will finish on July 13 in Imola.
Ebras rode for the British club Hess Cycling Team until the end of March this year and then moved to Italy. Her best result this season on the international stage is 9th place in the Belgian one-day race Antwerp Port Epic Ladies.
