In 2027, both the men's and women's Tour de France will start in the United Kingdom. This marks the first time that both Tours will begin in the same location.
The men's Grand Départ will take place in Edinburgh, with the opening stages held in Scotland, England, and Wales. Details for the women's stages will be released later. The men's Tour will visit the United Kingdom for the fifth time—previous starts took place in 2007 and 2014, with stages also held in 1994 and 1974. In addition to the Tour organizers, this grand event is supported by British Cycling, UK Sport, the UK Government, and the Scottish and Welsh Governments.
Moving the starts of Grand Tours to other countries has become increasingly popular. Six of the last ten Tours have started outside of France, for example in Copenhagen, the Basque Country, and Düsseldorf. This year's Tour begins in France, but next year it will start in Barcelona.
