Ineos Grenadiers has signed one of the youngest riders in the team's history – 16-year-old Spaniard Benjamín Noval, son of the former professional cyclist of the same name, will join them. Noval, currently racing for MMR Academy in his home country, will start riding for the WorldTour team in 2027, when he moves up from the junior category.
In a press release, Ineos Grenadiers described Noval as "one of the most exciting young riders and a future star" with "natural racing instincts, climbing ability, tactical intelligence, and maturity."
His father rode from 2008 to 2013 with Alberto Contador for Discovery Channel, Astana, and Saxo Bank, serving as a loyal domestique in mountain stages, but never won a professional race.
Noval's son showed great potential in his first junior season this year, winning five one-day races and all three stage races he participated in, in addition to five stages at the Vuelta a la Montaña Central, GP F.W.R. Baron, and Vuelta al Besaya Juniors. Today, Noval was crowned the Spanish junior time trial champion.
Noval also competes in cyclo-cross, achieving fourth place at the World Championships in February.
"Benjamín has all the attributes to develop into something truly special," said Ineos Grenadiers' Head of Performance, Scott Drawer. "He's smart on the bike and determined off it, and he's already shown a strong ability to assert himself in a competitive environment. We're excited to support his transition to the WorldTour level and help him fulfill his potential within our program."
