Why is Jonas Vingegaard the only one on his team wearing a red helmet?

This Tour de France – and cycling in general recently – has featured some truly wild helmets. Both in road racing and time trials, helmet design has become increasingly bizarre in recent years. We've become so accustomed to it now that models which would have caused a complete uproar just a few years ago barely attract any attention anymore.

However, journalists present at the Tour investigated why one of the favorites, Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), is wearing a different colored helmet than most of his teammates.

The only other rider on the team with a different colored helmet is Wout Van Aert, whose headgear is designed in Red Bull livery according to his personal sponsorship deal with the energy drink brand. Does the same apply to Vingegaard's red helmet?

The main reason for the custom-made helmet for the two-time Tour winner is the sponsorship deal between Visma-Lease a Bike and the Danish company Bygma. Bygma is one of the largest suppliers of tools, building materials, and supplies in Denmark. Bygma's company colors are red and white – the same as the Danish national flag.

When asked why only Vingegaard and not the entire team wears these colors, Team Visma | Lease a Bike did not provide a specific answer. This is likely due to confidentiality agreements.
