21-year-old Madis Mihkels has shown in the ongoing Volta ao Algarve cycling tour in Portugal that he is capable of performing well in high-level group sprints and taking on a leadership role for his home team EF Education - EasyPost.
On stages 3 and 4, Mihkels was in contention in the final sprint but had to settle for 6th place on both occasions. We offer you video highlights of both stages.
The Volta ao Algarve concludes on Sunday with an individual time trial. Mihkels' next starts will be in Belgium, with the Omloop Nieuwsblad scheduled for March 1st and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne the following day.
