Rein Taaramäe, who is racing for the Japanese team Kinan Racing Team this season, will make his first start in the United Arab Emirates at the five-day Sharjah Tour. The multi-day race, which begins on Friday, consists of five stages, one of which is an 11 km time trial. The longest road stage is 133 km.

This season, Kinan Racing Team has 11 riders – in addition to Taaramäe, the foreign riders include Australians Drew Morey and Nathan Earle, and Frenchman Thomas Lebas. This is Taaramäe's 18th professional season; his professional career began in 2008 with Cofidis.
