Reigning Estonian champion Elisabeth Ebras will start the women's Giro d'Italia tomorrow with the Italian club BePink - Imatra - Bongioanni.
"The main goal is to finish the Giro with good emotions. This is my first time participating in such a long stage race. My task is to help teammates who perform better in the mountains, and I hope to achieve a good result on some of the flatter stages," said the 20-year-old Ebras.
In addition to Ebras, the BePink - Imatra - Bongioanni lineup includes Andrea Casagranda, Nora Jenčušová, Linda Laporta, Gaia Segato, Meike Uiterwijk Winkel, and Elisa Valtulini. A total of eight stages are planned, starting with a 14.2 km time trial in Bergamo on the opening day. The Giro concludes on July 13 in Imola.
Ebras rode for the British club Hess Cycling Team until the end of March this year before moving to Italy. Her best international result this season is 9th place at the Belgian one-day race Antwerp Port Epic Ladies.
